Stormy Day Ahead

October 9, 2009

Wow! Just glancing at this morning’s atmospheric profile reveals a threat for severe weather, including the threat of a tornado or two in Louisiana before the day is over. The highest threat for tornadoes is going to be from just north of Alexandria into southern Arkansas. That’s not to say we’re out of the woods. There is a threat for strong wind, and an isolated tornado all the way down to I-10. There have already been numerous reports of wind damage in and around Shreveport. There is a tornado watch until 1:00 P.M for all points north of Alexandria.

Friday: Rain and thunderstorms will overspread the area from northwest to southeast. Highs will be in the middle 80s with a brisk southerly wind around 15-25 mph.

Friday Night: Rain will continue with a few embedded thunderstorms. Lows will fall back to near 60.

Saturday: There is a 70% chance for rain. Highs will only make it into the middle to upper 60s.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy with a 30% chance for rain. Lows will be in the middle 50s.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance for rain. Highs will be near 70.

Monday through Thursday: Scattered rain will continue. I’ll keep rain chances in the 40-50% range for most of next week. Highs will rebound into the 79-84 degree range with a good bit of humidity throughout the period. Lows will generally be in the middle to upper 60s. Looks like wet times off and on for the next week!

My tagline remains the same in severe weather situations. If skies are darkening and you wonder what’s on the way, tune into Channel 5 for the latest on this developing situation. Tom, Sarah, and Kari will keep you posted! On another note, if things get super interesting today, I may run out for a mini chase. We’ll see how things are going later this morning. If I find anything, I’ll have pics posted soon after.
