Rain Gear Not Optional

October 3, 2009

More rain is on the way. We have a nice southwesterly flow developing upstairs, a warm front bubbling up from the gulf, and a tropical storm in the Pacific that will contribute moisture to this whole sloppy mess. Translation………. Cut the grass today. This is going to be a quick change for us. The atmosphere in Lake Charles already has four times the moisture that Jackson MS does! That’s quite a quick change for them, and it will be arriving in Central LA quickly.

Saturday: Increasing clouds with a 20% chance for a late day shower. Highs will be in the middle 80s with easterly wind starting to bend to the southeast late at about 5-10 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy with a 60% chance for showers after midnight. Lows will be in the middle to upper 60s.

Sunday: Rain and a few thunderstorms will be widespread. Highs will be in the upper 70s. The rain chance is near 100%.

Sunday Night: There is a 70% chance for more rain and a few more thunderstorms. Lows will be near 70.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with a 60% chance for showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the middle to upper 80s.

Tuesday through Friday: Off and on rain will continue. I’ll keep chances in the 40-50% range each day. I’d say those have a better chance of increasing than decreasing over the next few days. Highs will be in the middle 80s for the most part, with lows in the upper 60s to near 70.

Super extended forecast for next weekend and slightly beyond…….. There is a chance we will see our first strong cold front in that time frame. Details are very sketchy at this point, but one of the models indicates the chance for some true fall-like air around the 10-11 to 10-14 timeframe. Right now it’s way too early to call if this will even happen, but I figured I’d keep my trillions of readers ahead of the game. If this front comes in as advertised we could see highs in the 60s and lows way down in the 40s!
