OK, So That Was Nice

September 29, 2009

The official thermometer reading was 63 degrees as of 7:00 A.M today. It felt like fifty after I cut the grass in the midday heat and humidity of Monday! As is typical of late September and October, we’ll see a lot of up and down over the next few weeks. Each time an up meets a down, we’ll likely see some storms. Our first round should wake you up sometime late Thursday night.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny and quite nice. The humidity will be MUCH lower today! Highs will be in the lower 80s with northeasterly wind around 5-15 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear and almost chilly! Lows will be in the middle 50s.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and still looking good. Highs will be in the lower to middle 80s.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear and a touch warmer. Lows will be near 60.

Thursday: Becoming partly cloudy and a bit more humid. Highs will be in the middle 80s.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy with a 60% chance for thunderstorms….. most likely after midnight. Lows will be in the upper 60s.

Friday through Monday: Morning storms should give way to sunshine and another small cooldown on Friday. Saturday looks dry right now with moisture briefly being shoved to the south and east of us. Sunday and Monday the moisture will return. I’ll go with a 20% chance for a shower Sunday, with a 40% chance on Monday. Lows will climb from the cool mid 50s on Saturday morning back to the upper 60s for Sunday and Monday morning. Highs will be in the lower to middle 80s each day.

So the incessant heat of summer seems to be on the wane. The storm that will bring us rain on Thursday night could end up to be a prolific severe weather maker to our north. We could see a few severe storms in our area, but most of that action will stay north of Shreveport. If there weren’t so many shirts to print, I’d be itching to dust off my storm chasing helmet, and head northwest to Oklahoma!
