Not Much is Changing

August 9, 2009

Things are pretty much status quo with respect to the forecast.  It looks like off and on afternoon rain will be the rule.  Typical summer stuff.  Models and observations across Africa and the eastern Atlantic indicate the tropics may be trying to get active, though nothing is close to a threat at this point.

Sunday:  Mostly cloudy in the afternoon.  There is a 50% chance for afternoon thunderstorms.  Highs will be in the lower to middle 90s, with southeasterly wind around 5-10 mph.

Sunday Night:  Partly cloudy with a slight chance for an evening thunderstorm.  Lows will be in the lower to middle 70s.

Monday:  Scattered afternoon thunderstorms are in the forecast once again!  Highs will be in the lower to middle 90s.  The rain chance is 50%.

Tuesday through Friday:  Not much is changing.  Afternoon thunderstorms will continue each day.  The tropical threat will stay very low locally, though I think we’ll see our first named storm of the season develop over the Atlantic sometime this week.  It will stay away from us, and our weather will stay fairly normal for this time of year.  Highs will be in the lower to middle 90s, with lows in the lower to middle 70s.
