First Taste Of What This Blog Will Be

July 24, 2009

That was one heck of a show this morning. Thanks to Al, Ashleigh, Michele, Jim, Glynn, Rhonda, Eric, Josh, my mom, my dad, Farrah, and all else who were involved in making my last day special. It was more than I could have imagined. Obviously I’m still a complete weather addict, so here is your weekend forecast and beyond from amateur meteorologist Nick Mikulas!

Friday: There is a 20% chance for showers mainly south of Alexandria. Highs will be in the middle 90s, with light and variable wind.

Tonight: Partly cloudy and warm. Lows will be in the upper 60s to near 70 with light wind.

Saturday: Hot, but mainly dry. There is a 20% chance for a few showers in the afternoon, and the high will be near 95.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy with a low near 70.

Sunday: A few more clouds with a 30% chance for more afternoon storms. Highs will be in the lower to middle 90s.

Monday through Wednesday: Rain chances will climb into the 40-60% range which means many of us will see storms at least 2 out of 3 of those days. The rain will hold highs to near 90 degrees, with lows hitting the lower 70s.

Forecast Discussion: There is a battle between dry air to the north and very moist air down south. A case in point is that the atmosphere in Shreveport contains 45% of the moisture that is found right now in Lake Charles. The dividing line is just south of Alexandria. That should keep us dry in town today and tomorrow. However, that moisture will build back to the north on Sunday setting us up for a wet work week!

A side note: My KALB farewell is at the bottom of this page. I once again must thank all of you for taking me in and making me one of your own. I’ve enjoyed this job more than I could ever explain.
